Program details

Overview

This four-semester diploma at Humber Polytechnic's Faculty of Applied Sciences & Technology, delivered at the North campus on a block-based schedule, focuses on welding with an emphasis on automation and robotics. The program combines hands-on and theoretical training in safe work practices, technical drawing interpretation and complex welding processes, developing skills in performing automated welding operations, programming robotic systems and applying industry quality and safety standards. Students also learn to troubleshoot, maintain and operate automated welding equipment in line with industry codes. The program is structured to prepare graduates for roles as welders, fitters/welders, brazers and solderers in sectors such as motor vehicle and parts manufacturing, fabricated metal product manufacturing, construction and machinery manufacturing. It suits students pursuing a welding career centred on robotic and automated manufacturing environments rather than manual welding alone.
