Overview
This four-semester diploma at Humber Polytechnic's Faculty of Applied Sciences & Technology, delivered at the North campus on a block-based schedule, focuses on welding with an emphasis on automation and robotics. The program combines hands-on and theoretical training in safe work practices, technical drawing interpretation and complex welding processes, developing skills in performing automated welding operations, programming robotic systems and applying industry quality and safety standards. Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, including Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U or equivalent), Grade 12 Mathematics (MAP4C, MCT4C, MDM4U, MCB4U, MGA4U, MCV4U or MHF4U or equivalent), and two further Grade 11 or Grade 12 C, M or U courses; mature-student status or college/university transfer status is accepted in place of the secondary-school route. The English-language requirement here is Humber's institution-wide English Language Proficiency Policy at the Certificates, Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas band: IELTS Academic overall 6.0 with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 80 with a minimum of 20 in each skill, PTE Academic 53-60, Duolingo English Test 105 or above, or CAEL 60 overall. A Canadian citizen or permanent resident who was schooled outside Canada must first have their credentials assessed - ICAS course-by-course for a secondary-school transcript, or WES for post-secondary study.
