Master's in Earth Sciences

The Master's in Earth Sciences is a 45-credit, thesis-based graduate program at INRS focused on advanced study of a chosen area of the earth sciences and an introduction to scientific research. The program combines mandatory and optional coursework with a 31-credit research thesis, allowing students to deepen their expertise in a specific earth-sciences subfield while developing independent research skills under a faculty research supervisor. It is offered both full-time and part-time, with admission cycles in the fall, winter and summer terms. Coursework and research are conducted in French, though language courses are available for non-francophone students. Graduates gain the methodological and disciplinary grounding needed to pursue doctoral studies or research-oriented careers in the earth sciences. The credential awarded on completion is a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Earth Sciences.
