Overview

Graphic and Web Design is a technical DEC teaching website interface design and integration alongside graphic design and publication production. The program page describes students learning to design and build website interfaces across a range of visual styles, from expressive and artistic to clean, grid-based corporate design, using CSS and HTML, as well as building brand-identity packages such as logos, business cards, brochures, and packaging, and creating and editing digital photography, illustration, and animation. Coursework is described as centred on current Adobe software and on skills such as photography, branding, social-media marketing, video editing, and animation, framed around industry demand for combined graphic and web capability. In the final semester, students apply their skills during a three-week workplace fieldwork placement, giving them direct exposure to a design workplace before graduating. The page states there are no formal prerequisites for admission, making the program open to students without prior design training. It suits students who want to work across both print and digital design rather than specializing narrowly in one, are comfortable learning current design software, and want direct workplace exposure through a fieldwork placement built into the program.
