Overview
Ce certificat prépare à œuvrer au sein d'une équipe de professionnels des soins et des services en enseignant les techniques nécessaires pour offrir des soins complets aux personnes atteintes de diverses maladies, en établissement ou à domicile. Des exercices en laboratoire et quatre stages obligatoires en milieu de travail complètent la formation. La personne diplômée applique de façon sécuritaire et compétente les plans de soins et de services, suit les directives verbales et les instructions écrites et respecte les politiques et méthodes établies.

Admission Requirements: Domestic entry — Ontario, Quebec or New Brunswick: the provincial secondary-school diploma, or, at 19 or over, satisfactory scores of 225 in reading comprehension and 225 in numeracy. International applicants must hold a secondary-school diploma or baccalaureate, or be in their final secondary year and supply proof of enrolment; La Cité states that admission is competitive because places are limited and is never guaranteed. Good working English is needed because clinical placements are mostly in Ontario (Ottawa) and Quebec (Gatineau) and you must be able to deal with clients and care teams in English. Before clinical placements: a properly fitted N-95 mask, a clear criminal record check from your local police service less than six months old, a student card, an up-to-date immunisation record, a level-C standard first aid and CPR-AED certificate (16 hours) from a recognised provider valid for the whole programme, worker health-and-safety awareness training and WHMIS training — all of which must stay valid for the length of the programme. Some placements may be outside the Ottawa area, and clinical placements can run evenings, nights and weekends.
