Before the school year: a level-C standard first aid and CPR-AED certificate (16 hours) valid throughout. Before the stage-3 ambulance and hospital placements: a class G or G2 Ontario licence (class 5 in Quebec or New Brunswick, and a learner's permit is not accepted), with proof supplied by 15 September before the winter placement; an up-to-date immunisation record; and a police record check for work with vulnerable people. Working English, spoken and written, is expected. For employment afterwards Ontario paramedic services require a class F licence and Quebec a class 4A.
