Réservé aux préposés aux services de soutien personnel diplômés d'un programme approuvé et ayant réussi les six cours de la passerelle NPTI-PSSP-SIA, ce parcours de transfert donne accès directement à la deuxième étape du programme de Soins infirmiers auxiliaires. En un an et demi, des activités en laboratoire et des stages cliniques supervisés par des infirmières et infirmiers auxiliaires autorisés développent les techniques de soins nécessaires pour aider une personne, une famille ou un groupe à atteindre, maintenir ou retrouver un état de santé optimal. Les expériences cliniques peuvent se dérouler le jour, le soir, la nuit et la fin de semaine, auprès d'une grande diversité de clientèles.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: A 14-week winter-entry bridge, not a direct-entry programme, and a highly competitive one: only 10 seats are offered and applicants are ranked on school test results. Entry (Ontario): a Personal Support Worker (PSSP) diploma approved by Ontario's ministry of colleges and universities with a cumulative weighted average of at least 65%; successful completion of the six NPTI-PSSP-SIA bridge courses with at least 64% in each, and 80% in mathematics for practical nursing; and work as a PSW within the last five years, full-time, part-time or casual. Classroom resources are in English and placements are mostly in Ontario, so you must be able to deal with patients and the care team in English. Before placements: up-to-date immunisation record, a clear vulnerable-sector police record check from your local police service, a properly fitted N-95 mask, and a level-C standard first aid and CPR-AED certificate (16 hours) valid for the whole programme. Placements can run days, evenings, nights and weekends.
