Overview
Soins infirmiers is a technical DEC offered over three or four years depending on the student's pathway, combining coursework in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and clinical practice with nursing assessment and intervention skills developed using high-fidelity mannequins and laboratory simulation. Clinical placements take place every session in hospital settings across the Capitale-Nationale and Chaudière-Appalaches regions, and students can opt into a three-week international cooperation placement in locations such as Benin or Peru. Admission requires a secondary school diploma or equivalent with completion of Secondary Environmental Science; Secondary 5 Chemistry is preferred but not mandatory, and some colleges offer support for students who need to strengthen this background. Graduates can enter the workforce directly in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, or home care services, or continue to university through DEC-BAC agreements, including one with Université Laval that can shorten the university portion of a bachelor's degree to about two years. Completing the DEC alone does not authorize independent practice: graduates must also pass the professional licensing examination administered by the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec. Admission Requirements: Admission follows Cegep de Levis's general college requirements: a Quebec Diploma of Secondary Studies (DES) or Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP), equivalent training recognized by the college, or sufficient training and experience after at least 24 cumulative months away from full-time study. The Soins infirmiers programme requires Science et technologie de l'environnement 4e or Science et environnement 4e; applicants without Secondary V Chemistry remain eligible but must replace two elective courses with chemistry in their first session. The four-year pathway is reserved for permanent residents or Canadian citizens. Instruction is in French; the programme page does not publish a separate English or French proficiency test score. International applicants apply through the same SRACQ process but the college publishes no fixed international closing date, only post-admission steps such as a 5,000 CAD tuition deposit and a CAQ/study permit process that can take 12 or more weeks. Admission runs through successive rounds rather than a single hard cutoff, so later applicants are still considered while seats remain. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
