Overview
Lakehead University's PhD in Engineering (Chemical) prepares graduates for careers in academia and industry serving sectors including petroleum, pulp and paper, bio-refining, cement, pharmaceuticals, and waste treatment. The program combines coursework, independent research, and seminars, with a research emphasis that encourages students to think independently, collaborate with other researchers, and address practical engineering problems. Students complete both written and oral comprehensive examinations and submit periodic progress reports over the course of the degree. Doctoral research is carried out under the guidance of a faculty supervisor within one of the department's engineering research areas. The program is offered at the Thunder Bay campus within the Faculty of Engineering.
