Overview
Applied Life Sciences is a four-year Honours Bachelor of Science program at Lakehead University focused on bio-molecular and cellular research and its applications in medicine, biotechnology and diagnostics. The interdisciplinary curriculum draws on anthropology, chemistry, biology and physics, combining lecture-based coursework with laboratory courses, research opportunities and internships. Students gain hands-on training in molecular biology and biotechnology techniques, including access to Lakehead's Paleo-DNA Laboratory. The major offers a concentration in Biomedical Sciences and specializations in Biotechnology or Experimental Life Sciences, allowing students to tailor their studies toward laboratory research, health sciences or graduate study. The program prepares graduates for careers or further study in biomedical research, biotechnology, diagnostic laboratories, and health sciences.

Admission Requirements: Ontario Secondary School applicants (OUAC code AA) must complete the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with a minimum of 6 Grade 12U or M courses, including program-specific prerequisites, and a minimum 70% overall final average. Program-specific prerequisites are English (ENG4U), Advanced Functions (MHF4U), and two of Biology (SBI4U), Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U), Chemistry (SCH4U), Data Management (MDM4U), Earth and Space Science (SES4U) or Physics (SPH4U).
