Overview

The diploma allows students to design their own curriculum, drawing on subjects ranging from literature to microbiology while earning credits toward a chosen designation. Students may take general courses freely selected, or direct their studies toward one of several available concentrations.

Admission Requirements: Domestic applicants need BC Grade 12 graduation (or equivalent) or to be 19 or older; international applicants need BC Grade 12 graduation (or equivalent). English proficiency is Category 3, Langara's baseline: English Studies 12/Literary Studies 12 at 50%, IELTS Academic 6.5, TOEFL iBT 80 (Writing 20, Reading 20, Listening 18, Speaking 18), Duolingo 110, CAEL 60, or PTE Academic 56. No portfolio, interview or reference-letter conditions are stated on the programme's own admissions page. Admission does not guarantee registration in required courses, and applicants should verify individual course prerequisites and submit relevant documents to Registrar and Enrolment Services before registering; some admitted students may need additional English coursework to meet course-level prerequisites.

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through EducationPlannerBC: for the 2027 entry cycle, applications open 1 February 2026 for Spring (January) entry, 1 June 2026 for Summer (May) entry and 1 October 2026 for Fall (September) entry, then stay open with no fixed closing date until each programme fills or classes begin. International applicants use the same EducationPlannerBC portal but face fixed closing dates: 30 September 2026 for Spring 2027, 31 January 2027 for Summer 2027 and 31 May 2027 for Fall 2027. A short list of limited-enrolment programmes - Nursing, Advanced Entry BSN, Nursing Practice in Canada, Applied Science for Engineering and the Post-Degree Diploma in Data Analytics - set their own, earlier deadlines that apply to both applicant types. Admission is otherwise rolling. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
