Overview
The Bioinformatics Diploma is about an interdisciplinary science that applies computational and statistical methods to biological information in order to make new discoveries and to solve complex biological problems. You'll study the underlying cause of disease and to find more effective treatments as well as to study biological patterns and develop biological and chemical models. Additionally, you'll have the option to complete a co-op program. Students completing a Diploma in Bioinformatics will be well prepared to complete their BSc at any university in BC. Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission to the Bioinformatics Diploma requires BC Grade 12 graduation (or equivalent) for domestic applicants, or 19 years of age or older as an alternative; international applicants need BC Grade 12 graduation or equivalent. English proficiency is assessed under Langara's Category 3 standard: English Studies 12 / English First Peoples 12 / Literary Studies 12 at 50%, IELTS Academic 6.5, Duolingo English Test 110, TOEFL iBT 80 (Writing 20, Reading 20, Listening 18, Speaking 18), CAEL 60, or PTE Academic 56. Students who wish to complete the co-operative education option must additionally be enrolled in three or more program courses (a minimum of nine credits, not counting EXPE 2300), maintain a GPA of at least 2.6 each term, pass an employability assessment interview with a co-op officer, and complete EXPE 2300 with a minimum 'C' grade. Admission to the program does not guarantee registration in every required course.

International applicants use the same EducationPlannerBC portal but face fixed closing dates: 30 September 2026 for Spring 2027, 31 January 2027 for Summer 2027 and 31 May 2027 for Fall 2027. A short list of limited-enrolment programmes - Nursing, Advanced Entry BSN, Nursing Practice in Canada, Applied Science for Engineering and the Post-Degree Diploma in Data Analytics - set their own, earlier deadlines that apply to both applicant types. Admission is otherwise rolling. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
