Developed with input from BC life-sciences partners, this program emphasizes practical, job-ready skills aligned with regional workforce needs and the BC Life Sciences and Biomanufacturing Strategy.
You’ll work with real datasets and industry-standard tools, learning how to move from raw sequencing data to results that support research, publications, and product development.
This micro-credential also fits within a broader applied bioinformatics pathway, allowing you to build a flexible, stackable portfolio of in-demand skills.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission to the Genomics and Transcriptomics Applications micro-credential requires a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a field involving high-throughput data analysis — Biology, Ecology, Forestry, Agriculture, or Life Sciences — for both domestic and international applicants. In place of the degree, Langara accepts a minimum of one year of relevant industry experience in the same high-throughput-data field, confirmed through a resume review. The programme carries Langara's Category 3 English Language Proficiency requirement: English Studies 12, English First Peoples 12, or Literary Studies 12 at 50%, IELTS Academic 6.5, Duolingo English Test 110, TOEFL iBT 80 (Writing 20, Reading 20, Listening 18, Speaking 18), CAEL 60, PTE Academic 56, or four years of full-time study in an English-language school system. Applicants who feel they have equivalent skills or experience but do not meet the listed requirements are invited to contact the bioinformatics department directly. Intakes run in January and September.
