Program details

Overview

Library and Information Technology at MacEwan University is a diploma program offered through the Triffo School of Business, training students to work as library technicians across a range of settings including public, academic, non-profit, school, corporate, and government libraries. The curriculum builds skills in helping patrons find information, developing library programs, supporting literacy initiatives, and acquiring, preparing, and organizing information efficiently and accurately. The program emphasizes being both technically capable and customer-oriented, reflecting the dual demands of modern library and information work, which combines organizing collections and systems with direct public service. It suits students interested in information management who want to work directly with the public or with organizations that need help managing their information resources, rather than those seeking a purely technical, behind-the-scenes computing role. The program is delivered through MacEwan's business school programming. Specific details on delivery mode, practicum components, program length, and campus location are addressed through the university's separate admission requirements and program pages rather than the general overview, so applicants should review that additional material before applying.
