Program details

Overview

This diploma builds the knowledge and practical skills library technicians need for today's changing library settings, pairing theory with hands-on practice in acquiring, organizing, producing, retrieving and disseminating information in both print and electronic formats. It prepares graduates to find work in academic, public, school and special libraries, along with other information service settings.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Mohawk's certificate-evaluation page requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, an equivalent (Mohawk Academic Upgrading or a GED), or Mature Student Status for applicants 19 or older, plus a pass in Grade 12 English at the C or U level or equivalent. Applicants with academic history completed outside Canada must provide an equivalency assessment from a recognized service such as ICAS, the University of Toronto's CES, or WES; no specific English-test score bands are published on this page. Applicants who do not meet academic eligibility may request a Pre-Admission Test by contacting Mohawk admissions directly. Library experience, strong communication skills and basic computer competency are recommended but not mandatory for admission.

Application Details

Start Date: September, January and May
Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through Ontario Colleges: for a September start Mohawk's equal-consideration date is 1 February (1 February 2027 for the next fall intake), and for a January start it is 1 June; after either date, files are considered first-come, first-served while seats remain, with permanent residents of Ontario prioritized, then other Canadian residents, then international applicants. International applicants apply via OCAS's International Application Service on a per-intake deadline rather than one annual date: for January 2027 entry, applications opened February 2026 and the submission deadline is 1 November 2026; Mohawk had not yet published a deadline for the September 2027 intake as of this check. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
