At Marianopolis College in Westmount, Canada, Diploma in Social Science, Core is offered as a diploma in Social & Cultural Studies programme. The programme runs for 2 years. Tuition for international students is CAD 17,244 per year (CAD 8,160 per year for local students).
This pre-university Diplôme d'études collégiales (DEC) in Social Science at Marianopolis College is delivered over two years in English and introduces students to seven disciplines: anthropology, economics, geography, history, political science, psychology, and sociology. In the first year, students take foundational courses across all seven areas, then choose electives in the second year based on their interests. Compared with the college's other Social Science profiles, which concentrate on a narrower theme such as commerce or human behaviour, the Core profile is designed to give the widest disciplinary exposure before students specialize at university. Students with a stronger mathematics background can take a Core Social Science with Math variant, which replaces two electives with differential calculus and linear algebra. The program includes required coursework in research methods and concludes with a comprehensive integrative project along with a language exit exam and a program synthesis assessment. It suits students who want to explore the social sciences broadly. Graduates typically continue into university programs in anthropology, economics, education, environmental science, political science, and social work, with the math variant also opening most university business programs.

Admission Requirements: Admission to Core Social Science covers two profiles. The Core profile (C1) requires only a Quebec Diploma of Secondary Studies or its equivalent, with no additional secondary-level prerequisites beyond an overall minimum grade average of 75%. The Core Social Science with Mathematics profile (C2) has the same diploma and 75% overall average requirement, plus Secondary V Mathematics TS or Mathematics SN with a minimum grade of 75% in each of Secondary IV and V. English and French language proficiency during application follow Marianopolis College's general entrance requirements: an external English test is required only for applicants who completed secondary school outside Canada with fewer than three years of English instruction, with accepted scores of TOEFL iBT 90 (minimum 21 per section), IELTS Academic 6.5, or Cambridge C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency at grade C or better; applicants without a Certificate of Eligibility for English-language education educated outside Quebec must instead sit a French proficiency test (DELF B2 67/100, TCF 467/699, or TEF 467/699).
Application Details
Start Date:Fall
Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply directly to Marianopolis through its own Omnivox portal rather than SRAM. As published on the college's site, the Fall 2026 intake's online application was open with a deadline of 1 March 2026, and late applications are reviewed only after on-time files, and only if space remains; the site had not yet posted Fall 2027 dates as of 14 September 2026. International (temporary-resident) applicants were urged to apply by 15 February 2026 because of immigration-document processing times, with no international application accepted after 1 March 2026. Admission is not rolling: both streams run to a firm deadline, with limited late acceptance once on-time files are cleared. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
