Overview

This pre-university Diplôme d'études collégiales (DEC) at Marianopolis College is a Social Science profile focused on human behaviour, examining social relationships, individual behaviour, and the mind through combined psychological and sociological coursework over two years. In the first year, students take foundation courses in psychology, sociology, history, and economics alongside English, French, and humanities requirements. In the second year, they take more advanced courses in quantitative analysis and the biology of human behaviour, and can select statistics and further psychology electives specifically recommended for students planning to study psychology at university. This emphasis on psychology and sociology distinguishes the profile from the college's other Social Science options, such as Commerce or Core Social Science. Students may apply after their first semester for an Honours Distinction track involving enriched course sections. The program suits students interested in understanding why people think and act as they do. Graduates typically continue into university programs in psychology, social work, sociology, criminology, education, and human resources.

Requirements

Minimum GPA: 75.00 / %
Admission Requirements: Admission to the Human Behaviour profile of Social Science requires a Quebec Diploma of Secondary Studies or its equivalent and an overall minimum grade average of 75%, with no additional secondary-level prerequisites. Students without a Certificate of Eligibility for English-language education take French Literature courses within the program, while certificate holders take French Second Language courses. English and French language proficiency during application follow Marianopolis College's general entrance requirements: an external English test is required only for applicants who completed secondary school outside Canada with fewer than three years of English instruction, with accepted scores of TOEFL iBT 90 (minimum 21 per section), IELTS Academic 6.5, or Cambridge C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency at grade C or better; applicants without a Certificate of Eligibility educated outside Quebec must instead sit a French proficiency test (DELF B2 67/100, TCF 467/699, or TEF 467/699).

Application Details

Start Date: Fall
Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply directly to Marianopolis through its own Omnivox portal rather than SRAM. As published on the college's site, the Fall 2026 intake's online application was open with a deadline of 1 March 2026, and late applications are reviewed only after on-time files, and only if space remains; the site had not yet posted Fall 2027 dates as of 14 September 2026. International (temporary-resident) applicants were urged to apply by 15 February 2026 because of immigration-document processing times, with no international application accepted after 1 March 2026. Admission is not rolling: both streams run to a firm deadline, with limited late acceptance once on-time files are cleared. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
