The Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing is offered by the Ingram School of Nursing in the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences. The research-intensive program develops advanced skills in critical thinking, scholarly communication, and rigorous research related to a student's chosen area of inquiry, with faculty research spanning implementation science, psychosocial oncology, digital health, pediatric nursing, pain, public health, and nursing administration. The program is open to applicants with an undergraduate or graduate degree in Nursing, or a two-year master's degree in Nursing or a related field. O.I.I.Q. registration is required only for students planning to practice as a nurse in Quebec. Graduates have gone on to leadership roles in nursing research, academia, and health care administration across Canada, including deans and directors of nursing programs, provincial nursing officers, health network executives, and nurse scholars. The program admits students for the Fall term only.

Minimum GPA:3.30 / 4.0
Admission Requirements: Completion of master's-level studies is required, with either a degree in nursing (undergraduate or graduate) or an interest in nursing-related research, education, or administration, and a minimum cGPA of 3.3 out of 4.0 (B+ or 75% average) in undergraduate and graduate programs, along with English-language proficiency.
