Honours Health and Society I is a honours degree in Health Sciences programme offered by McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada. Tuition for international students is CAD 47,416 per year (CAD 6,043 per year for local students).
Honours Health and Society I is a first-year entry pathway that leads automatically into the Honours Health & Society B.A. after the first year. Its curriculum draws on economics, sociology, geography, social work, and political science to examine the social determinants of health, aging and well-being, mental health and illness, community services and housing, and barriers to equitable health care. Class sizes are described as smaller to support closer contact with instructors, and first-year students take an exclusive research-inquiry course. A five-year co-op stream with paid work terms is available, and a field-placement course is included in the third year; study-abroad options exist at more than seventy destinations. Students can pursue Mental Health and Addiction as a specialization or a minor, and a concurrent Mohawk College certificate is available in Business Studies or Disability Management. The program suits students aiming for roles in government, healthcare administration, non-profit organizations, policy or program work, or mental-health and addictions services, and it is delivered at McMaster University's Hamilton campus.
