Overview
Computational Science and Engineering at McMaster University is a multi-disciplinary field connecting engineering, science, business, mathematics, and computer science to develop tools for real-world discovery and understanding. Advances in computing power and computational methodology allow researchers to use computational simulation, modelling, and optimization to pursue investigations beyond the reach of theoretical analysis and physical experimentation alone. Research areas include computational physical sciences, computational optimization, design and control, and computational biosciences. The Master of Science (MSc) is offered through both thesis-based and project-based options, completed on a full-time basis, with typical entry in September (thesis entry is also available in January and May). Applicants are required to hold an Honours Bachelor's degree (BEng, BSc, or equivalent). The credential awarded is a Master of Science in Computational Science and Engineering, applicable across engineering and scientific disciplines using computational methods.
