The Master of Artificial Intelligence (MAI) is a four-term, course-based graduate program offered jointly by Memorial University's Department of Computer Science and Department of Computer Engineering. Full-time students complete the program in sixteen months, taking a minimum of ten courses: seven core courses and three electives. The first semester covers foundational mathematics and computing topics, the second provides a broad introduction to artificial intelligence, and the third and fourth semesters focus on electives together with a capstone course, with specialization areas including robotics, machine learning, and image processing. Admission requires a four-year undergraduate degree, or the equivalent, in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field such as data science, scientific computing, bioinformatics, or computational chemistry, normally with a minimum Second-Class Upper standing or at least a 75 percent general average, plus prior coursework in linear algebra, vector calculus, statistics, and computer programming. The program admits students for Fall only.
