Program Highlights The Mohawk College Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Advanced Diploma program is offered Full-Time over 24 consecutive months with intakes in September.Delivery of the program will be a combination of online learning, mandatory 2 week in person lab intensives and clinical placements.On program accreditation, successful graduates will be eligible to write the national certification examination administered by the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologist (CAMRT)Mohawk College has applied for program accreditation through Accreditation Canada EQUALTM What you will learnGain the technical expertise and theoretical knowledge needed to safely and effectively perform general and cardiac nuclear medicine procedures including theranostics, PET and SPECT imaging.Apply radiation safety principles to safely prepare, administer and dispose of radioactive tracers used in routine nuclear medicine procedures and therapeutic applications.Cultivate critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaborative skills while working with diverse patient populations and other healthcare professionals.Ensure safe and effective patient care and communication by following best practices, professional standards, code of ethics, and legal requirements.Functional DemandsThose aspiring to pursue a career as a technologist in the field of nuclear medicine should thoroughly understand and consider the following functional demands, as they are essential to performing effectively in this challenging and highly specialized profession:Manual dexterityPhysical strength for patient and equipment handlingFine motor controlCritical thinking and strong written/verbal communication skillsEmpathy when interacting with a diverse patient population Program Length and DeliveryThe didactic portion of the program will be delivered online using both synchronous and asynchronous formats, with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to support all students.The program consists of 6 consecutive semesters which includes 2 semesters of fully didactic delivery, 2 semesters of didactic courses and part time clinical placement followed by 2 semesters of full time clinical placements.There are 3 mandatory two week lab intensives (end of semester 2, 3 & 4) for which students will be required to attend in person, at Mohawk College. These intensives will include hands on simulation learning in a variety of laboratories and clinical settings.
