Autism and Behavioural Science is a one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate at Mohawk College that teaches students to apply Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) to improve outcomes for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other disabilities. Coursework covers ABA principles, evidence-based autism treatments, and the design, implementation and evaluation of behavioural intervention plans, alongside training caregivers and responding to the needs of family members. Students also study intensive behaviour intervention techniques used with children with autism. The program runs over two semesters (fall and winter) and includes two unpaid field placements in community settings such as hospitals, clinics, classrooms or residential settings, totalling 322 hours, giving graduates direct experience applying behavioural strategies. Admission requires a minimum two-year college diploma or university degree, with preference given to applicants from Human Services, Psychology or Health Sciences backgrounds. A communicable disease screening and police check are required before field placement begins.
