Auto Body & Collision Damage Repairer is an Ontario apprenticeship certificate offered by Mohawk College at its Stoney Creek Campus for Skilled Trades, covering the required in-class training for the Automotive Service Educational Program. The credential is a Mohawk College Certificate eligible for the Ontario College Certificate. Training follows an "earn while you learn" model combining 7,280 hours of on-the-job training with an employer and 720 hours of in-school training at the college, for a total of 8,000 hours, with in-school instruction led by experienced, licensed journeypersons. Students learn to repair dents in body panels, fenders and skirting, and to file, sand, grind and spray paint, along with shrinking and stretching metal panels using heat treatment and welding to fix breaks in body panels or structures. The program also covers testing and correcting faulty frame alignment and installing trim and body parts, building theoretical knowledge and practical, on-the-job skills for a career as a licensed auto body and collision repair technician.
