Trades - Apprenticeship in Welder

This apprenticeship programme delivers the in-class training component of the Welder trade at Mohawk College's Stoney Creek Campus for Skilled Trades. It follows an earn-while-you-learn model combining employer-based on-the-job training with in-school instruction led by licensed journeypersons in dedicated welding facilities. Coursework covers shielded metal arc, gas metal arc and gas tungsten arc welding processes, thermal cutting, blueprint reading and quality assurance. The apprenticeship totals 6,000 hours: 5,280 hours of on-the-job work experience with a sponsoring employer and 720 hours of in-school training at Mohawk College. Training offers are issued by the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development and registered through Skilled Trades Ontario, with multiple intakes at the Stoney Creek Campus. Graduates work as licensed welders across manufacturing and construction sectors.
