Overview
All students who participate in clinical placements are, without exception, required to meet the expectations mandated by the Ontario Hospitals Act and the Ontario Long Term Care Homes Act. These nonacademic requirements include: Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen and the Confidential Communicable Disease Surveillance (CDS). Detailed requirements are below.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Domestic applicants need an OSSD or equivalent, including English at the Grade 12 (C/U) level, Mathematics at the Grade 11 (C/U/M) level, Biology at Grade 11 (C/U) or Grade 12 (U), and Chemistry at Grade 11 (U) or Grade 12 (C/U). This is a competitive programme: when applications exceed available seats, selection is based on Ontario residency and the highest, most senior final grade on file in the required courses at the time of ranking. Students must also meet College of Nurses of Ontario eligibility for RPN registration, and clinical placement requires a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening under 6 months old, a Communicable Disease Surveillance clearance, and current BLS-level First Aid/CPR renewed annually. International applications are not accepted for this programme.

Application Deadline:Niagara College's equal-consideration deadlines apply equally to domestic and international applicants to competitive programs, published for the 2026-2027 cycle: for September 2026 entry the date was 1 February 2026, for January 2027 entry it is 5 June 2026, and for May 2027 entry it is 30 October 2026, each followed roughly three weeks later by a document deadline and an earliest-offer date. All other programs, the majority, are processed first-come, first-served starting each November for both domestic and international applicants, with offers issued until seats fill or the term begins. Niagara does not publish which named programs currently hold competitive status. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
