Overview
The Social Service Diploma allows you to gain valuable insights into social justice to support and empower individuals, families and communities. Through community partnerships, research opportunities and hands-on practicums, you'll develop best practices and build a professional network in the social service field. Admission Requirements: The programme page does not publish its own academic entrance requirements and defers to North Island College's general admission standard: applicants must have graduated from secondary school (or its equivalent) or be at least 18 during the year of study, and be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, protected person/refugee, or hold permission to study in Canada. International applicants (this program welcomes them, CIP 44.0000, PGWP-eligible) must in addition meet NIC's institution-wide English-language proficiency standard, for example IELTS Academic, CAEL, PTE Academic, Cambridge C1 Advanced or Duolingo, with minimum overall and component scores set according to the programme's entry category. Before classes begin, admitted students must attend a mandatory information session, hold a current Standard First Aid certificate with CPR Level C valid through the program, complete a Criminal Record Check valid for five years, and submit a Personal Immunization form validated by a public health nurse; students placed in high-risk health-authority settings must also complete an additional 8-hour Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum module.
