Cert in Health Care Aide is a certificate in Health, Food & Medical programme taught at Northern Lakes College in Slave Lake, Canada. The programme runs for 9 months, delivered in a hybrid format. Tuition for international students is CAD 7,938 per total (CAD 2,646 per total for local students).
Health Care Aide is a certificate program at Northern Lakes College that follows Alberta's provincial health care aide curriculum. The standard track runs September to June over two full-time terms and totals 36 credit hours, combining online instruction through Supported Distance Learning with required in-person lab sessions and supervised clinical practicum placements; courses include Roles and Responsibilities of a Health Care Aide and Advanced Care Techniques. An alternative eSTEP stream, aimed at people already employed as unclassified health care aides, is delivered entirely online with five intakes a year (October, December, February, April, June), allows up to one year to complete, and lets qualifying workplace hours count toward the practicum requirement provided at least 320 employment hours are completed. High school students can take the program through dual credit. Graduates work as members of the health care team in acute care, continuing care, long-term care, home care, and assisted living settings throughout Alberta. The program suits people entering a caregiving role for the first time as well as those already working informally in care settings who want formal certification.
Application Deadline:Northern Lakes College does not publish a fixed closing date for domestic applicants: programme pages state that late applications are accepted if seats remain, so effectively admission is rolling, apply early. The exception is a small group of oversubscribed programmes -- Addictions Counselling, Advanced Care Paramedic, Practical Nurse, Primary Care Paramedic and Social Work -- where an accepted domestic applicant must pay a $300 tuition deposit by 1 May to hold the seat for the September intake. International applicants face fixed term deadlines instead: 1 May for Fall, 15 October for Winter and 1 January for Spring, with guidance to apply at least four months ahead of the start date; as of September 2026 the Fall 2026 international deadline has passed and the college is accepting Winter 2027 international applications up to 15 October 2026. So domestic admission is rolling until seats fill, while international admission runs to fixed, non-rolling term deadlines. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
