Overview

Electrical Technician at Nova Scotia Community College is a two-year diploma that trains students in the design, installation and safe operation of renewable electrical energy and automated control systems. The program combines practical and theoretical instruction in construction and industrial electricity, with particular focus on alternative energy technologies including solar photovoltaic and wind power systems. A mandatory field experience placement of about five weeks gives students hands-on exposure outside the classroom, and students who complete year one are eligible for a paid co-op placement of at least 12 weeks (420 hours) before starting year two.
