Overview

The Electrical Engineering Technician diploma is a two-year program at Conestoga's Cambridge - Fountain Street campus organized around power systems and industrial automation. Labs and theory cover electrical fundamentals, programming and troubleshooting PLCs, motor controls for AC and DC machines, instrumentation, solar photovoltaic systems, CAD and power electronics. Graduates meet the academic requirements for OACETT's Certified Technician designation and have pathways into Conestoga's electrical technology programs.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or applicant age 19 or older under mature-student status, Grade 12 compulsory English at C or U or equivalent (or Conestoga's Preparatory Communications COMM1251), and Grade 12 Mathematics from MCT4C (60%), MHF4U or MCV4U (55%), MDM4U (70%), or equivalent, or Preparatory Mathematics for Technology & Apprenticeship MATH1385 (60%); applicants holding only MAP4C are not considered unless they pass the Conestoga Math Pre-Admissions test. Basic computer literacy is expected, and Physics or a technical background is recommended but not mandatory. The page does not publish its own English test-score table; Conestoga's institution-wide scale therefore applies for applicants whose transcripts were issued in a language other than English: IELTS Academic overall 6.0 (no band under 5.5), TOEFL iBT 80 (no skill under 20), PTE Academic 53, CAEL 70 (writing at least 60), or Duolingo English Test 110.

Application Details

Start Date: Intake month: September. Start dates listed by Conestoga on 6 September 2026, for domestic and international applicants alike: September 2026 at Cambridge – Fountain St. An individual campus intake may already be closed.
Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca (college code CONS): for the Fall 2027 intake the online application opens 26 September 2026, the equal consideration date is 1 February 2027, offers may be issued from 1 November 2026, and accepted offers must be confirmed by 1 May 2027; most oversubscribed programs stop accepting applications after 1 February 2027, though many programs remain open afterward. Conestoga does not publish a separate equal-consideration date for its January intake. International applicants apply directly to Conestoga and are assessed on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis until each program fills; no fixed international closing date is published. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
