Overview

Electronic Engineering Technology at Nova Scotia Community College is a two-year, TAC-accredited diploma that trains students to design, develop and maintain electronic systems and devices. Instruction covers circuits, microprocessors and sensors, combining theoretical study with extensive hands-on practice in the lab. The curriculum prepares graduates for technology careers across a range of industries, including communications, embedded systems, marine applications, manufacturing and renewable energy. A mandatory field experience placement of about five weeks gives students practical exposure outside the classroom, and students who complete year one are eligible for a paid co-op placement of at least 12 weeks (420 hours) before starting year two. The program is accredited by Technology Accreditation Canada and is eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit for international students, preparing graduates for technician roles designing, building and troubleshooting electronic systems and devices.

Admission Requirements: Nova Scotia Community College requires a High School Graduation Diploma or equivalent, including Academic Grade 12 Math and Academic Grade 11 Physics; applicants short a credit can complete it through NSCC's Academic and Career Connections program. International applicants' diploma equivalency and English language requirements vary by country; NSCC's institution-wide English proficiency standard applies where required, met with IELTS Academic minimum 6.0 on each band, TOEFL iBT 80 overall (pre-January 2026), Duolingo English Test 115 overall with no subscore below 95, CAEL Band 60, CanTest 4.5 average, or PTE Academic 55, or an exemption.
