Overview

Electronic Systems Technician at Nova Scotia Community College is a two-year diploma that trains students to diagnose, repair and restore electronic systems used across multiple industries. Students gain hands-on experience installing, troubleshooting and repairing a wide range of electronic systems using current technology and equipment. A mandatory field experience placement of about five weeks gives students practical exposure outside the classroom, and students who complete year one are eligible for a paid co-op placement of at least 12 weeks before starting year two. Portfolio development is a required component of the program, and Canadian Armed Forces members may be eligible for credit recognition toward the credential. The program is eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit for international graduates, preparing students for technician careers maintaining and repairing electronic equipment and systems across a range of industrial and commercial settings.

Admission Requirements: Nova Scotia Community College requires a High School Graduation Diploma or equivalent for this programme; no additional Grade 12 subject prerequisites are published. International applicants' diploma equivalency and English language requirements vary by country; NSCC's institution-wide English proficiency standard applies where required, met with IELTS Academic minimum 6.0 on each band, TOEFL iBT 80 overall (pre-January 2026), Duolingo English Test 115 overall with no subscore below 95, CAEL Band 60, CanTest 4.5 average, or PTE Academic 55, or an exemption.
