Radio Television Journalism at Nova Scotia Community College is a two-year diploma program that trains students to research, develop and present content for broadcast on radio, television, podcasts, live-streaming platforms and the web. In year two, students specialize in Television Production, Radio Performance and Studio Production, or Journalism. Training takes place in a professional studio environment at Ivany Campus, where students operate a campus radio station, produce a weekly television news show, and work on live-streaming projects. A mandatory field experience of about five weeks, typically unpaid, gives students practical exposure outside the classroom, and the program is eligible for a cooperative education placement between year one and two, offering paid full-time employment of at least 12 weeks and 420 hours.
