Overview

The Communication Advanced Certificate provides you with skills in applied communications. You'll develop competence in areas such as professional writing, public relations theory and practice, management communications, marketing writing, and visual communication. The certificate may be of interest if you are looking to complement your previous post-secondary experience by focusing on an applied, career-related field.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Okanagan College's Communication Advanced Certificate requires successful completion of 60 credits of post-secondary study from Arts, Science or Business, or an Engineering Technology diploma. Applicants whose prior instruction was in English meet the language requirement with a minimum GPA of 67 per cent across the Communications or English courses within those 60 completed credits. Applicants whose prior instruction was not in English must instead present a standardised score: IELTS Academic 7.0 overall with no band below 6.5, TOEFL iBT 101 with no section below 94, or Cambridge English 192 with no component below 180; the program invites applicants with other tests to confirm an equivalent score with Admissions and the Communications department. Up to six credits of first-year Communications or English from prior post-secondary study may be applied toward the certificate; no portfolio or interview is stated.
