Program details

Overview

Applied Biotechnology is a Bachelor of Science (Honours) specialization within Ontario Tech University's Biological Science program, offered by the Faculty of Science. Delivered on campus on a full-time basis, with September and January starts, the specialization runs four years, or five years with the direct-entry co-op option. Combining a primary emphasis on biology and chemistry, students gain a strong understanding of cell and molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, biochemistry and physiology, applied to fast-growing fields such as health, agriculture and industry. The program includes enhanced laboratory experience throughout, preparing graduates for further study or careers in applied life-science fields. Students may instead pursue the five-year Bachelor of Science and Management (Honours) option in their upper years, which adds coursework in finance, accounting, operations, project management and marketing alongside the science curriculum. The co-op option provides full-time paid work terms throughout the degree.
