Overview
This program leads to a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in the Artificial Intelligence (Computer Science) specialization, over four years (five with co-op), delivered in-class at the North Oshawa campus, and is offered within the Computer Science program. Coursework builds a foundation in computer science while developing expertise in machine learning, intelligent systems, data analytics and AI algorithms, with an emphasis on the mathematical and computational models underlying artificial intelligence rather than only its applications. Students can extend the degree to five years through a direct-entry co-op option offering full-time paid work terms, or complete an Honours Thesis project with a faculty advisor. A Bachelor of Science and Management (Honours) pathway is also available in the upper years for students interested in managerial roles, adding coursework in finance, accounting, operations, project management and marketing. It suits students preparing for careers such as AI developer, data analyst, computer vision specialist or software developer.

Admission Requirements: Ontario Tech University states no admission requirements specific to the Artificial Intelligence (Computer Science) specialization beyond the OSSD prerequisites it lists for the Computer Science program and its general English proficiency policy. Applicants need the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with six 4U/4M credits, including English (ENG4U), Advanced Functions (MHF4U), and one of Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U), Physics (SPH4U) or Computer Science (ICS4U), plus a combined minimum 70 per cent average across the prerequisite computer science, math and science courses; the program recommends taking all three of MCV4U, ICS4U and SPH4U. Admission is competitive: last year's cut-off was 75 per cent and the expected cut-off is 73 per cent, so meeting the minimums does not guarantee a seat. Applicants whose first language is not English must present, within two years of the intake, IELTS Academic 6.5 with no band below 6.0, Duolingo English Test 120, PTE Academic 58, CAEL 70 with no band below 60, Cambridge English Advanced 180 with no band below 170, or Oxford ELLT 7, or an IB Diploma or certificate with a minimum grade of 4 in English A, per the university's general admission requirements. The program begins each September.
