Overview
This specialization within the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Educational Studies focuses on applying digital technology and inquiry-based learning across educational settings, with an emphasis on real-world inquiry and problem-based learning. Students complete four specialization courses selected from options covering culture and digital technologies, online learning, AI in education, digital communication technologies, eLearning project management, games and simulations for learning, and trends and issues in educational technology, alongside the core Educational Studies curriculum in foundations of learning, digital tools for education, assessment and equity, diversity and inclusion. The four-year Honours Bachelor of Arts is delivered as a hybrid program combining online and in-person courses, based at the Downtown Oshawa campus with a September start, and is available with a co-op option. Graduates are prepared to provide technology training in education and industry, pursue a Bachelor of Education, or continue to graduate study.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Current Ontario secondary school applicants must complete the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with six 4U or 4M credits, including English (ENG4U). Admission is competitive and the required average varies from year to year, based on school marks, distribution of subjects and performance in subjects relevant to the program; meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance. Applicants apply through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) using application code DEK, and those also interested in becoming a teacher should select the Concurrent Education option. Separate routes apply for out-of-province, international, mature, transfer, General Arts and Science and home-schooled applicants.
