This specialization within the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Educational Psychology focuses on creating equitable and accessible learning environments, combining theoretical knowledge and practical skills to address barriers of discrimination and oppression in educational and workplace settings. Drawing on psychological principles, coursework examines how social influences, attitudes, behaviours and factors such as diversity and personality shape inclusion and exclusion, and uses problem-based learning and critical reflection to engage with equity, diversity and inclusion issues in Canadian education. The four-year Honours Bachelor of Arts is delivered in-class at the Downtown Oshawa campus with a September start, and includes experiential learning components such as work terms, internships, practicum placements and an undergraduate thesis or research study.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Current Ontario secondary school applicants must complete the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with six 4U or 4M credits, including English (ENG4U). Admission is competitive and the required average varies from year to year, based on school marks, distribution of subjects and performance in subjects relevant to the program; meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance, and preference is given to applicants with the strongest qualifications. Separate admission routes apply for Ontario secondary school graduates, out-of-province and international applicants, mature applicants, transfer applicants, General Arts and Science (GAS) applicants and home-schooled applicants.
