Overview
This graduate program in Nuclear Engineering is offered as a Master of Applied Science or a Master of Engineering, delivered in-class at the North Oshawa campus, and covers the nuclear power industry from fuel manufacture through radioactive waste disposal along with applications of radiation in industrial and medical fields. The Master of Applied Science, completed over 24 months of full-time study in the Nuclear Power or Radiological and Health Physics field, combines coursework, supervised research, a research seminar, and a research thesis. The Master of Engineering, completed over 16 months of full-time study, offers a course-based option of ten courses or a project-based option of seven courses plus a supervised graduate research project, with all students admitted to the course-based option initially and able to request a transfer once a supervisor is confirmed. Admission generally requires a four-year honours undergraduate degree in science or engineering. It suits engineers and graduates aiming at research, design, operations, or regulatory roles in the nuclear sector.
