BA/BS in Media Production

Media Production is offered at Redeemer University as a Bachelor of Communications and Media Studies degree program, and as a major and minor within the Bachelor of Arts degree program. The program teaches students to assess and interact with mass media, focusing on the techniques of storytelling through media using a Mac lab, video production equipment, and industry software. Coursework combines theoretical foundations of media and communications with practical production skills, preparing students to discern and understand the influence of the messages they encounter and create. Media Ethics serves as the required third- or fourth-year capstone course for the major, and students complete a two-part Internship in Media Production consisting of 120 hours of on-site work in areas such as journalism, web content, or film and television production. Advanced students may also undertake a self-directed Senior Thesis project. The two credential paths, the Bachelor of Communications and Media Studies honours major and the Bachelor of Arts major or minor, carry different admission averages.
