Overview
This program builds strategic communication expertise for working professionals from corporations, government, and non-profits, covering the theory and practice of how messages shape culture, behaviour, and organizational outcomes. Students take one nine-week course at a time alongside their jobs, choosing electives to specialize and finishing via thesis, research paper, or a course-based option. A signature Live Case Challenge has student teams research a real communication problem for a client organization and deliver a formal recommendation, an experience many alumni later revisit by bringing their own organizations back as clients. Delivery is either fully online or blended with two on-campus residencies built around intensive, cohort-based learning.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Standard admission requires a four-year (or comparable) undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, evidence of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed for master's-level study, and normally at least two years of work or volunteer experience, preferably in a leadership capacity; no minimum GPA is stated. Flexible admission is assessed on a sliding scale of post-secondary education against leadership experience, ranging up to at least ten years of high-level professional communication leadership experience for applicants with less than two years of post-secondary education. As one of Royal Roads' named exceptions, this programme requires a higher English language bar than the general graduate standard for applicants whose first language is not English: IELTS Academic 7.0 overall with a minimum 6.5 in each band, or TOEFL iBT 100 overall with a minimum 26 in writing and 23 in listening, reading and speaking; the Duolingo English Test is not accepted. Applicants also submit two reference letters, a three-page personal statement, a structured résumé and official transcripts.

RRU consistently closes a programme's application exactly three calendar months before that programme's own intake start date — a September 2027 intake typically closes 7 June 2027 — though a few programmes (the Master of Global Management, for example) use a six-month lead instead. Each programme lists its own upcoming intakes, running from 2026 into 2028 depending on the programme, and RRU says it may still accept a late application if space and processing time remain, but it publishes no separate international deadline and no institution-wide equal-consideration or rolling policy.
