Program details
Overview
An online diploma for people who create or manage contemporary learning environments, whether they train staff, facilitate sessions, lead workshops or coordinate programs. Students study learning theories and technology and assess how each shapes the design and delivery of learning, examining what makes particular learning environments exemplary and the innovations behind them. The emphasis is on leadership, so graduates can create and implement digital learning environments in their own workplaces. Openness is a founding principle: course content is published on the program's public website, and every student builds a digital presence and blogs their learning, contributing to broader conversations about digital learning. The program is textbook-free, and students take part in a week-long virtual symposium of talks and discussion, open to the public, at both the beginning and the end of the program.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Standard admission requires a four-year (or comparable) undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution and at least three years of professional experience in a leadership or management position directly related to the program's learning outcomes. Flexible admission applies to applicants with at least seven years of work experience, including a minimum of two years in a leadership or management position with the same relevance. The programme page defers to Royal Roads University's institution-wide English language requirement for applicants whose first language is not English or who were not educated in English: for third-year-entry and graduate programs, IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with a minimum 6.5 in writing and speaking and 6.0 in listening and reading, or TOEFL iBT 88 overall with a minimum 24 in writing and 20 in listening, reading and speaking.
