This certificate program allows students to explore healthcare career options while building a foundational skill set through a combination of prescribed and elective courses. Coursework covers communications, math and statistics alongside the fundamentals of healthcare practice, including medical terminology, anatomy and infection control. The one-year credential is delivered in a blended format combining classes at Main Campus with online coursework. Because the program shares courses with several other SAIT School of Health and Public Safety programs, students may receive course credit toward, or meet academic admission requirements for, programs including Dental Assisting, Medical Laboratory Technology, Ophthalmic and Optometric Assisting, Optician, Pharmacy Assistant and Respiratory Therapy, among others. The program accepts international applicants and meets the field of study requirement for the Post-Graduation Work Permit.
