Program details

Overview

This two-year diploma trains students to support individuals with disabilities and functional impairments under the guidance of occupational therapists and physiotherapists. Coursework covers core rehabilitation and healthcare delivery concepts, therapeutic methods and complex health conditions, with observational clinical visits and practicum rotations that apply skills in real-world settings. The curriculum is designed to exceed national competency standards for occupational and physical therapy assistants, and students graduate with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to manage therapeutic supplies and equipment within healthcare facilities. Delivery is in person at Main Campus. Graduates are prepared for roles as occupational therapist or physical therapist assistants. A transfer agreement allows graduates, with sufficient credits, to enter the second year of the University of Northampton's Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Occupational Therapy.
