Overview
This four-year Red Seal Endorsed apprenticeship, delivered in person at SAIT's Main Campus through the School of Transportation, trains apprentices to repair, overhaul, and maintain agricultural equipment such as tractors, and tillage, seeding, and harvesting machinery. Coursework covers engine service, hydraulic systems, electrical diagnostics, and precision farm technologies. SAIT provides classroom instruction in periods two and four of the four-year term, with eight weeks of instruction in each of those years, alongside a minimum of 1,560 hours of on-the-job training required across the full apprenticeship. Graduates earn journeyperson status and an advanced diploma through Alberta's Apprenticeship and Industry Training. The program does not accept international applicants; apprentices must be Alberta residents (or primarily work in the province), hold Canadian citizenship or permanent residency, and secure an employer willing to indenture them before starting their education periods.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must be a resident of, or primarily employed in, the province of Alberta, and hold Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, refugee status in Canada, or a valid CUAET visa. Applicants must meet SAIT's education requirements for the program and secure employment with an employer willing to indenture them as an apprentice before beginning their education periods. A minimum overall course average of 65%, with no less than 50% in any individual course, is required to progress. International applicants are not accepted.
