Overview

The Micro-Internship Training Certificate lets students at Canadian post-secondary institutions gain practical experience through short, employer-driven projects, provided they are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons legally authorized to work in Canada. Participants complete 60 to 80 hours of project work plus reporting, working independently on an employer-identified project after securing a placement, with flexible timelines built around student schedules. Students are not registered until a project placement has been secured, and eligibility details and application instructions are provided through the program's Symplicity portal. Learners are assessed against six outcomes covering ethical practice, cross-cultural collaboration, information use, continuous improvement, connecting theory to practice, and employment readiness. Successful completion earns a Micro-Internship Certificate, and participants who meet eligibility criteria and succeed in the hiring process may also receive an $1,800 stipend through iHub funding.
