Overview

Eight-month Ontario College Graduate Certificate tailored for computer science, computer programming and software development graduates who want to turn data into strategic, evidence-based business decisions. Coursework at Newnham Campus spans machine learning algorithms, cloud technology, data visualization and advanced AI, including generative AI and prompt engineering, delivered in hybrid format with January and September starts.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: The program requires an Ontario university or college degree, diploma, or equivalent in computer programming, software development, or a related field. Applicants without that credential may instead qualify through an unrelated degree or diploma plus two years of demonstrable software-development or engineering experience, or three years of related work experience, supported by a resume and references; introductory calculus and statistics are recommended given the program's mathematics focus. English proficiency follows Seneca's requirement for its graduate certificates: per the institution's admission requirements for Canadian applicants to master's and graduate-certificate programs, this means IELTS Academic overall 6.5 with no band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT with no section score below 22/30, PTE 60, or Duolingo 120, unless exempt through prior study in English. Canadian citizens and permanent residents educated outside Canada must supply a WES or ICAS credential evaluation.

Application Details

Start Date: Start terms read from this program's own Program Availability table on 6 September 2026: September 2026 and January 2027, both at Newnham and both open to domestic and international applicants. This program does not run a May intake. Availability is subject to change and a seat is not guaranteed.

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants (Canadian citizens and permanent residents) apply through OntarioColleges.ca. Seneca's institution-wide equal consideration date is 1 February for that year's September (fall) intake: apply on or before 1 February and you are considered alongside every other applicant; after that date any seats still open are filled first-come, first-served, and high-demand programs may already be closed. Applications open at OCAS on 1 October of the previous calendar year for a September start, and on 1 October two calendar years ahead for the January (winter) and May (summer) starts, neither of which has an equal-consideration date. Seneca begins issuing offers on 1 November; for fall entry the earliest confirmation deadline is 1 May, and a CAD 200 non-refundable deposit (due no earlier than the second Wednesday of June) is what holds the seat — your own offer letter carries the binding dates. International applicants have no fixed deadline: Seneca states it admits students up to the first day of classes but stops accepting applications once the program is full, so apply as early as you can. These are Seneca's institution-wide dates, not a deadline published for this program alone — confirm on the program page before you apply.
