Overview
The Bachelor of Education as a Second Degree is designed for those who have already completed a Bachelor’s degree and are admitted to one of SFU's Teacher Education programs. You'll complete the Professional Development Program and can take minors in areas like counselling and human development, early learning, environmental education, French education, secondary teaching, and more. You'll also have the option to partake in a field school. Completion of the program gives you a recognized international credential that allows you to teach abroad.

Admission Requirements: Admission to the Bachelor of Education as a second degree requires that applicants already hold a bachelor's degree and have been admitted to one of three routes: the Professional Development Program (Option A), the Professional Linking Program (Option B), or an approved off-site offering of the Professional Development Program (Option C). The program page does not itself state the selection criteria used within each of these three routes, a minimum GPA, or language-test scores — these are set at the level of the Professional Development/Linking Programs rather than on this page. Because entry is built on a completed prior bachelor's degree, applicants should expect SFU's general English-language proficiency scale to apply where relevant, e.g. IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, or TOEFL iBT 4.5 overall with no section below 4.0 (tests from 21 January 2026). Applicants should confirm exact PDP/PLP entry criteria with the Faculty of Education directly.
