Overview
This MEd in Curriculum and Instruction is built for BC college and institute instructors who want to strengthen their post-secondary teaching practice. The cohort program runs over six consecutive terms across two years and comprises six 5-unit courses plus a comprehensive examination. Classes are taught in person at North Island College's Comox Valley campus, meeting every second or third weekend on Friday evenings and Saturdays so that participants can remain in their teaching roles throughout the degree. It is aimed at both new and current instructors, particularly those at North Island College, as well as educators working in community-based adult education and similar areas.

Admission Requirements: This SFU Master of Education (Curriculum & Instruction: Post-secondary) targets new and current instructors, particularly at North Island College, engaged in post-secondary or community-based adult education; it is intended for working professionals who remain in their profession throughout the program, and may not suit international applicants. Admission requires a bachelor's degree from SFU or an equivalent recognized institution, with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0/4.33 (B), or 3.33/4.33 (B+) based on the final 60 units; graduate coursework is also considered. Applicants submit three references, at least two academic, able to address scholarly competence and readiness for graduate study; a sole-authored academic writing sample of at least five pages from the last five years, with a clear argument and citations; a 1,000-word letter of intent; unofficial transcripts; and a curriculum vitae of up to three pages. Non-native English speakers must submit TOEFL, IELTS or equivalent scores valid within two years, unless exempted by a prior degree from an English-language institution in a majority English-speaking country.
