Overview
This program is designed to provide individuals with developmental disabilities and other significant learning challenges with the opportunity to experience college life, pursue a postsecondary education and develop skills to help prepare them for employment or volunteer-work. Students will engage with their peers in courses specific to the CICE program. Having chosen an individual vocational direction, each student will attend academic courses, with their college peers. The support of a Learning Facilitator will be provided. The Learning Facilitator may attend classes, provide follow-up study skills, test preparation, and support course modifications when necessary.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, an Ontario Secondary School Certificate or equivalent, or Mature Student status, together with a documented developmental disability, a level of independence that does not require constant support, and the ability to arrange transportation to the College and to field placements. Applicants who apply through Ontario Colleges by the February 1 equal-consideration date are sent a supplementary application package; those selected attend an interview during March Break, and the programme admits roughly 25 students each fall. The programme page sets no English-proficiency scores of its own; per St. Clair College's institution-wide standard for diploma and certificate programmes, international applicants would need IELTS Academic 6.0 overall, TOEFL iBT 60 overall, PTE Academic 52, CAEL 60, or Duolingo 110. No portfolio or work-experience requirement is stated beyond the supplementary package and interview.
