Overview
The Mechanical Technician - CAD/CAM Diploma is a two-year Ontario College Diploma delivered on campus at St. Clair College's Ford Centre for Excellence in Manufacturing. The programme trains students to plan how manufactured products are produced, selecting machines and machining sequences needed to make components to industrial standards. Coursework covers computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software, CNC programming, quality control and coordinate measuring machine (CMM) operation, using engineering workstations and industry-standard integrated software. Students train on equipment used across manufacturing sectors, including mould making, tool and die, and machine tool construction, using equipment within the Ford Centre for Excellence in Manufacturing. Graduates are prepared for roles such as CAD designer, CAM specialist, CNC programmer, machinist, quality control technician and CMM operator.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with the majority of courses at the College (C), University (U), University/College (M) or Open (O) level, including Grade 12 Mathematics at the College (C) or University (U) level. Mature student applicants are considered under the college's standard admission procedures.
